About the Florida Council of Chapters

WHO WE ARE

7Florida Council of Chapters (FCoC) is an affiliate of The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA). MOAA chartered the Council on November 18, 1970, with 20 Chapters and Clubs. There are now 38,000 MOAA members residing in Florida, with 5,000 serving in our 37 chapters across the state.

FCoC is a non-profit, not-for-profit, politically non-partisan 501(c)(19) Veteran Service Organization (authorized for qualified tax exemptions under the IRS code), EIN/TIN: 59-2222828

Membership in MOAA is open to any of those who hold or have ever held a warrant or commission in the United States Uniformed Services (Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, or the commissioned corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), and their Surviving Spouses.

MOAA Members

OUR MISSION

The Florida Council advocates for MOAA’s national legislative initiatives at the grassroots level and works on behalf of all veterans and their surviving spouses at the state level. We serve the veterans in Florida and our communities by supporting and giving to the serving the military/veteran community and their families, and military-inclined youth. We promote special events and activities for former, active, retired warrant and commissioned officers and their spouses.

The Florida Council is an affiliate of the National Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), the nation’s largest and most influential association of uniformed service officers and their surviving spouses. We are a nonprofit 501(c)(19), politically nonpartisan organization. There are over 38,000 MOAA Members from every branch of uniformed service – including active duty, National Guard, Reserve, retired, former officers and warrant officers, and surviving spouses, with 37 Chapters throughout the state of Florida. We are a powerful force speaking for a strong national defense by representing the people who make a strong national defense possible. MOAA is an association of officers and surviving spouses continuing with our responsibility to represent and support all ranks, across all services at every stage of their lives. We are the leading voice on compensation and earned benefits for all members of the uniformed services community.

THE COUNCIL

  • Encourages grassroots legislative advocacy on behalf of veterans and their families,
  • Supports community service and philanthropy for all veterans, their family members, and military-inclined students.
  • Promotes camaraderie among our members and takes care of their survivors.

The council conducts training for Chapter Leaders, facilitates communications, and provides expertise and resources for affiliated chapters. We communicate via emails, our bi-monthly newsletter, The Council Communiqué, social media, and website—www.FLMOAA.org. Council Board Meetings are conducted four times yearly, and we host an annual Convention and Leadership Training Seminar.

Editorial Policy

MOAA National and its affiliates, including the Florida Council of Chapters and associated chapters in Florida, are nonpartisan organizations dedicated to maintaining a strong national defense and ensuring our nation keeps its commitments to all currently servicing, retired, and former members of the uniformed services and their families.
